Introduction

My name is Alia Shamimi Bt A.Zamri and I’m from Perak. I’m taking my second semester of my first year in English for International Communication at International Islamic University Malaysia.

Background:

I grew up in a small village called Kampung Batu 10 Lekir which located in Manjung district of Perak. Kampung Batu 10 Lekir is located about 8 kilometers from a small town named Sitiawan which is originally known as Kampung Sungai Gajah Mati. According to legend, there was an accident which related to the existence of the name of ‘Kampung Sitiawan’. Long time ago in Kampung Sungai Gajah Mati, there was two elephants trying to cross the Dinding’s river. However, one of the elephant got stuck in the mud of the river. The villagers have tried so hard to help the elephant from drowning but they failed and left those two elephants. However, the other elephant refused to move and hung on to its friend, resulting in them drowning together in the rising tide. Thus the setia kawan (loyal friend) name (which now called Sitiawan) was derived.

I spend 5 years of learning and graduated from Sekolah Menengah Agama Persekutuan Kajang (SMAPK).

I once worked as a floor crew at a café named Secret Recipe. I do all those dishes and also served the customers. I have used my first salary to pay the registration for my driving license.

My father is a teacher while my mother is a bank officer. I have 3 brothers and I’m the only daughter in the family.

Interests:

I love playing sports. I play all kinds of sports such as badminton, tennis, netball, bowling, and volleyball. I love swimming too. Other than that, I enjoy singing and dancing. I love Arsenal Football Club. I love cats so much! The smell of the fur is the greatest thing ever. I talk about marriage all the time if I am with my best friend, Audy. I love to think, about being able to travel around the world with my friends, someday.  I love thinking about my cats at home. Are they in a good condition? Are they missing me?

Five years from now, I want to further my study up until master’s degree level in UK and I hope to travel around Europe with my friends and have the chance to visit the Emirates Stadium.
